Lately, I’ve been deep into the weeds, talking AI, campaign automation, Google Ads tricks, and all the nerdy stuff we love.
But this week, I want to shift gears and talk business. Specifically, about a moment every agency faces, especially in the early days.
Here’s the setup:
You land a new client. You pitch some outcomes—results, a timeline, maybe a price point—and halfway through you realize…
You’re not going to hit the mark.
Maybe you misunderstood the niche. Maybe the ads didn’t land. Maybe you just didn’t know what you didn’t know.
I recommend being real with the client. Say:
“I unknowingly committed to targets we won’t reach. Here’s what we can do realistically. I’ll work harder to make it right, or bow out if you prefer.”
I’ve found that 9 out of 10 clients will give you a second chance when you’re honest.
If they choose to walk, offer to finish out the month free or at 50% off. Especially if you’re early in your agency journey, learning with a client is better than learning with no client.
But what do you think? This newsletter goes out to over 15K agency and biz owners, and it consistently gets 42%+ open rates—but I try to read and reply to your responses personally.
Hit reply. I’d love to hear your perspective.
