Issue #133: Does great Google Ads Campaign Architecture always work?

IPPC-The-Blink-logo
Can something be good for the Goose but not the Gander? (yeah…that’s an old person saying…guilty as charged)
Specifically, is a Google PPC Ads Campaign Architecture that is working great for a client in the plumbing niche with a large monthly ad budget? Is it also great for other plumbing clients spending under $5K monthly?
Short answer: No. Never!
Now, the details:
We have a very successful plumbing client with a Google PPC Ads budget between $60K to $90K monthly, depending on the season. He has been with us for over 1.5 years and is very happy with the CPA (Cost Per Acquisition) for plumbing jobs.
He loves us!
We also have dozens of other plumbing clients with under $5K monthly budgets. So, we tested the successful “great” Google PPC Ads Campaign Architecture on a few of the low-budget accounts.
The result: High CPAs, lots of spam, and very few leads.
Why? We spread the low budget across too many campaigns, diluting the effectiveness of low-budget accounts.
The Takeaway:
When the budget is low, you must focus on limited high-value, high-margin services with fewer campaigns and a simpler Campaign Architecture.
