Issue #32: Page Design Is Overrated

Today I’m sharing one of the biggest mistakes marketers make on their pages and an invitation to our September training.
✏️ Marketing Tip: For new pages: STOP fitting copy to your design
Have you ever thought about what would happen to your website or landing page if you removed all of the copy?
For starters, your conversion rate would drop to ZERO.
I mean, how persuasive is our homepage now?
That’s why copy MUST come first and design second. All too often, marketers start with a page design and fill in each section with copy chunks.
That is 100% backward.
When building a home page, landing page, product page, or any type of landing page…you need to START with positioning and messaging.
When you know what you want to say and how you want to say it, then you move into the design phase.
Page elements, e.g., images, videos, etc…, are just ways different ways to articulate your message and should be in support of your page copy.
And page design is just the prioritization of elements to create a logical and compelling page narrative that converts.
